Empowering resource-poor women and men
to improve their lives
through better informed decisions

PanPhone is an innovation company dedicated to empowering women and men in the developing world. We started PanPhone with the ambition of becoming a trusted provider of relevant, useful and interesting information that would be accessible to anyone.

We are a company aimed at developing countries. Our starting point is Malawi (where we are based) and Southern Africa, but our aim is to expand to other developing countries.
PanPhone is based on the notion that relatively more women are cut off from the mobile revolution and more women are illiterate on the use of technology. The design of PanPhone tries to accommodate these facts.
We'd like to see people choose to have PanPhone installed on their phones because they find it easier to use, desirable, valuable, empowering. We hope PanPhone will be seen like a tool that can make a difference in peoples lives.

PanPhone will start by being available only through organisations that enter into a partnership with us. Over time the system will be made available for download on existing mobile phones and pre-installed on new mobile phones.
PanPhone will not deliver messages of propaganda (religious, political, ideological). We reserve the right to reject any content that is covered under this paragraph. But we do not have any holy cows with regards to the way development work is implemented.
We will live up to the standards for data security and confidentiality. This could be EU standards or the standards of an international organisation.
